Abstract:
Blunt abdominal vascular injury often presents a substantial diagnostic challenge. Mesenteric injury from blunt abdominal injury is less frequent but fatal. When blunt mesenteric injuries are combined with other organ injuries, the symptoms are more obvious, and the diagnosis and treatment will be timelier and more accurate. However, if a mesenteric injury occurs in isolation, the symptoms are insidious and therefore may lead to treatment delay. This unique case report describes a patient with a ruptured isolated superior mesenteric artery caused by a rebar accident. To our knowledge, no similar cases have been reported in the literature. Prompt recognition of this life-threatening condition by emergency clinicians leads to prompt treatment and improves patient outcomes.
